The Challenge
The property required a facade enhancement to improve its spatial quality and environmental performance. The main challenge was managing the high solar load on the North sector and protecting the home from cold Southwest winds, while ensuring privacy and visual security from future neighboring constructions without losing natural light.
The Solution
We proposed a passive climate control strategy. At the entrance, we implemented a permeable green block system. We structured the design with two large planter beds featuring native species, chosen to ensure very low maintenance care, and projected a green sector to the North that acts as a summer solar filter. On the South facade, we incorporated a specific vegetal barrier to block winds and provide privacy.
The Impact
We achieved a garden with low water requirements, highly resilient, and low maintenance. The intervention not only reduces runoff and brings local biodiversity but also optimizes natural light in winter and creates gathering areas with superior thermal comfort year-round.
Vegetation ceases to be a simple ornament to become an active tool for climate control, weaving a contemporary and living refuge.
